Case Study: Branding
Halley's Mountain Inn
Client: Halley’s Mountain Inn is a luxury inn located in Black Mountain, NC.
Problem: The client needed a brand refresh to reflect their grand reopening as a luxury boutique inn.The historic inn has Craftsman architechural details and the client wanted that aspect to be incorporated into the logo.
Solution: To convey the luxury feeling of the “new Halley’s Mountain Inn,” without losing the coziness of the mountain inn, a paired down, calming color scheme of warm blues was chosen. Additionally, a rustic, yet sophisticated typeface was chosen.

The Process
The design process started with research to familarize myself with the target audience and the brand vision that the client would like to achieve.
Then I began pulling the beginning brand elements together, such as the typography and color palette.
The logo began with a series of sketched thumbnails and digital roughs. After the logo, I was able to create the other deliverables.
The Details
Target Audience: Couples in their 20s to 60s seeking a luxury getaway to celebrate an event or to treat themselves. The outdoorsy type or the cozy up by the fire type can enjoy the amenities that the inn offers.
Deliverables: Brand Identity: logo, door signs, room key & keyholder, coasters
Overall, I enjoyed working with the brief and crafting a cohesive brand identity that speaks to the new direction that Halley's Mountain Inn is moving in.
